Hauthane HD-6002

A polycarbonate-based, hydroxyl-functional, aliphatic, water-borne polyurethane dispersion.

Suggested Uses: HD-6002 was developed for use with water-dispersible, isocyanate crosslinkers such as Bayer’s Bayhydur 302 or Perstorp’s Easaqua D 401/501. The product, when crosslinked provides tough, chemical resistant, glossy coatings which may be applied to a variety of substrates including concrete, metals, plastics and wood materials. This product exhibits superior chemical resistance, while maintaining excellent flexibility and gloss retention characteristics.

Characteristics:

  • Superior chemical resistance
  • Excellent exterior weathering durability
  • Excellent humidity resistance
  • Contains n-methyl pyrrolidone co-solvent

Application

HD-6002 crosslinked with water-dispersible isocyanates may be spray applied using single-component equipment. The workable potlife is approximately 4 hours at the suggested crosslinker ratio of 1.5 to 1.0 NCO/OH.

Curing

HD-6002, crosslinked with a water-dispersible isocyanate, will dry to a hard film in 30 minutes at ambient room temperature (65 – 70 ºF) and humidity (RH 50 %). Ultimate cured properties will take 3-5 days to develop. If heat is available, the ultimate properties can be attained in shorter time. Typical oven drying temperatures and dwell times for aqueous coatings are sufficient to produce optimal film properties.
